Videos sent from desktop PC to phone via Bluetooth don't always show up

In recent weeks I have tried to transfer videos from my desktop PC (an HP Compaq 6000 Pro Sff PC with an Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz running Windows 10 Pro) to the phone using a Bluetooth connection.

Such transfers appear to go through properly, but of three or four files I sent, only one was actually listed in the Video listing on the phone. The files appear on File Explorer if I enable USB storage and connect a compatible USB cable to the phone.

Would using the cable work better, or should I first try a different USB Bluetooth adapter?
